In recent years, homeowners, law firms, and environmental groups have raised significant lawsuits of potential pollution byproducts from firefighting foam. Most prominent is B-type foam called AFFF (Aqueous Film-Forming Foam). PFAS chemicals are being regulated so quickly and sloppily by California that even environmental companies don’t even know how to tackle the proper procedures quickly enough. What we do know is that Fire Foam/AFFF, PFAS, microplastics, and similar “Forever Chemicals” can cause significant airborne inhalation hazards to families, bioaccumulation risks through skin to children, are a significant impact on California’s waterways and storm sewer systems. In extreme cases, PFAS can leave you with contaminated soil that requires complicated PFAS soil stabilization and remediation.
